Jörg, Just to clarify: The links below point to OpenJDK, not to the Oracle JDK? I only ask because the version and build numbers seem to track those in Oracle's JDK.
For what it's worth, I am currently running ES 1.0.0 GA with the latest Oracle JDK 7u51 on Mac Mavericks and on Linux, and I haven't seen any issues so far.
