Due to all the inquiries I have had on the nifty extended side panels I have on my K2, I have found that I can make them available if there is enough interest to do a "run". You can see a photo of the custom case (WJ4P) on the photo gallery on the Elecraft site. This offer does not include the protective end covers that also appear there in another photo. The extra length panels allows protection for both the knobs and antenna connectors.
The details: The panels will extend a full inch in the front and 7/8" on the back end. The front end of the panels have the cut-outs that fit three of my fingers and make it easy to handle the K2 in the field. They will be thicker (about double the thickness) than the standard side panels, with recessed flat head screws (provided). The panels will be powder coated in the same texture as the original finish, and as close as I can get to the Elecraft Grey as possible. One thought was to make them black, instead. You folks would need to weigh in with any preferences. I used a Rustoleum color that is very close to EG for the ones installed on my K2. Price would be about $36.00 per set.
