I've been unplugged from QRP-L for quite some time due to low S/N
ratio.
When did Jim Cates pass on?

Thanks for noticing, Bill ;)
Not as well known is that I had a bit of help from Eric in
test/refinement of the prototype Sierra. So 2004 also marks the 10th
anniversary of our first collaboration.
Also, the Sierra wouldn't have happened without Doug Hendricks, KI6DS,
and Jim Cates, WA6GER (SK). These guys worked tirelessly to promote
the Sierra (and other designs) as club projects, and deserve much of
the credit.

Wonder just how many of us have had the pleasure of using N6KR's
design, the
NORCAL Sierra? I picked up one on eBay and find it to be one sweet

I've had it on 40 and 20 with consistently good reports. The rx is a
pleasure to listen to. Definitely a keeper!
I read somewhere that Field Day, 1994 marked the prototype's debut.
So happy
10th, Wayne! ---
