Hi John, Here's the original posting that Doug H made when Jim passed away:
Jim Cates, WA6GER, passed away yesterday due to cancer. He discovered that he had it in January, and went very fast. Jim was the best friend I ever had and I feel his loss deeply. He was a giant in qrp circles, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Jim was a very private individual, and there will not be any services held. He will be cremated and his ashes buried next to his wife's grave in a family only service. Paul Maciel and I last saw him 3 weeks ago. He was as sharp as ever mentally, and was at peace with himself and ready to go. He asked me to say thank you to all of his qrp friends for being so kind to him over the years. That was Jim Cates, ever the gentleman, and always thinking of other people. Please keep him in your prayers. 72, Doug, KI6DS Doug posted the above on April 17, 2004.
