Finally the reason of this is explained by Tom N0SS. It's regarding that the TUNE function do not use the ALC. This why we have sometime different value when hitting the TUNE button.

After a complete recalibration of my K2 this morning, and also after checking all ouput band at 5W and 10W, I can now say that everything is working great !!!

Jean-francois,

Having just spent several hours chasing the same problem, I believe that I can help. The key is that when you press the tune button, I believe that the K2 reduces the power to 2 watts, regardless of the power setting. Please try keying the transmitter with a hand key and see if the power out isn't what it should be.

I know that the K2 reduces power when tuning when you have the KAT2, but I'm not sure that it reduces the power without the KAT2.

Let me know if this helps,

Thanks,

I now understand how the K2 react when tuning. But, I was suspecting something, because I found that my power output seems to be more lower that is suppose to be. Correct me if i'm wrong, but when I test the output power, U use the DL1 dummy load, I set my K2, for example at 10W, and push the tune button. While I have my DMM meter set to DC connected to the two tips on my dummy load, I read the vDC. After I calculate V * V / 50 omhs, I also check that the dummy load I built is effectively 50 ohm.

And the result are really lower that is suppose to be. Am I doing something wrong, I guess ? ;-)

Thanks for your patience....
