Hi Paul,

     I haven't done any soldering in about 20-years!  When I bought my K2 kit 
a month ago, I went out and researched irons.  I settled on a Weller WESD51 
after talking to a technician at the National Renewable Energy Labs.  He stated 
that he uses that one because of its superior static eliminating and heating 
controlled tip.

I don;t know about the other stuff but I have immensely enjoyed my WESD51 
while building my K2 and a couple other smaller projects.  Even when solding 
fairly large projects like PL259's, the tip temperature doesn't waiver.  The 
normal stuff takes about 1.5 seconds per solder joint.  Less than a second for 
smaller pads.

I'm no expert but I sure like this iron...
