I've been having a lot of fun listening to shortwave broadcasts on my KX1. AM detection is prety decent in USB or LSB and most of the stations are so close to on-frequency that I rarely have to fine tune. I just set the DDS to a 5.00 KHz boundary and then set up for 5KHz tuning increments. It turns into a channelized tuner! Only one problem - since every tick on the encoder is an increment, it becomes very touchy. Wouldn't it be nice if you had to turn the knob several ticks to get it to click over to the next 5 KHz step? Then there would be some leeway for less than pianist-quality fingers. Am I crazy or should we ask Elecraft to do this the next time they open up the firmware for something more important? Or has this already been discussed and I'm the last to know?
