Gary Surrency, in his last message to me on this subject, said: "It certainly looks like you have found the cause of the INFO 80 message" Just for your knowledge and for the record in case my "KPA100 Info 080" experience may be of any future help to some other K2r running into the same trouble, let me tell you that I have had to digest a lot of information and suggestions I have received from a good and wonderful bunch of you K2rs who have answered my S.O.S call and to whom I have personally thanked "off list", and also from the people at Elecraft, mainly Gary, to whom I publicly thank for his cooperation. In the past months I had sporadically made all kind of checking and double-checking but this past weekend I disassembled the KPA100 once again so as to inspect the PCB thoroughly, mainly the PIC and RS232 area, looking one more time for any cold solder and/or short and to make measurements anew. Finally, do not quite understand why it didn't happen before, I traced the problem down to a damaged U6, the EL5146CN op. amp, that was loading down the 5V regulated supply and thus the KPA100 U1 PIC did not work properly, provoking the "Info 080" message and my headache. I removed the damaged IC and from then on I got the expected messages on the K2 display. Presently I am waiting for a replacement IC I have requested to Elecraft as I have not found it here in Barcelona Thanks once again to you all and may I wish lots of luck to Jim Larsen, AL7FS, whose "Info 080" trouble message I have just read on the list. Maybe my example can be of any help to him.
