Good Evening,
The annual clock change has me working out a new set of numbers for
the net. Thus tomorrow at 2200z it will be 4 PM here in the Pacific Time
Zone. The frequencies will remain the same but the propagation seems to
have improved. Our sun is back to near where it was a year ago happily
ionizing our D, E, and F layers.
I hope you can join us for a few exchanges. It has been mentioned
(well actually it was at lunch today with N7NLU) it may be interesting for
a few of you to interact a bit longer after each of the nets is over. I
agree whole heartedly. Please use this net as a watering hole and either
use the frequency after we're done or move a bit above and below it to
meet up. The Thai food was good as was the conversation. Hopefully we
will all try a bit of hiking together and then maybe a bit of Elecraft
trail operating in the future.

Um, Sorry, Folks - including Kevin--
We seem to wrap ourselves around the axle twice a year trying to do this
right. It's almost as bad as having to do metric/English conversions and
back, to make things work that should have been straightforward. (Yes, I
work there, but wasn't involved directly in that fiasco. Just laid off
during the recovery was all.)
While the original rationale for having Summer Daylight "Saving" Time has
long since faded into obscurity, the fact of its hanging on in our laws (in
_most_ of the US) is still with us, and we still screw it up! It would
only take the political will to inject some sanity on Capitol Hill and
abolish the thing. If companies want to stagger their hours to avoid "rush
hour", more power to them. Get some more afternoon time after work to do
projects in good weather -- talk to the boss. The Guv'mint shouldn't have
to tell you to.
UTC-PST is _8_ hours, not 6. UTC-PDT is _7_ hours. After you get your
clocks all over the house adjusted to the old saw of "Spring Ahead and Fall
Back", check your computer, and listen in on WWV if you can, and reassure
yourself that UTC hasn't changed. I finally got myself a $30 Timex at
Penney's that has two time zones, and I can keep Zulu time unchanged on the
one, local on the other. Very handy, now if I can ever get on the air in
all this mess around here!
