The first I built when I got back into ham radio (10 years ago??) was a
keyer built around a Curtis 8044abm chip. It had this sequential numbering
feature. The downside was that it didn't really have a sleep mode, and
although current draw was low, it still ate up the 3 AA batteries, when not
in use, I'm sure that could be resolved, though.

As I recall the chip was fairly expensive, maybe about $10 or $15 back
then. I'm not sure if the chip is still being manufactured, I seem to
think it's not.

A Google search isn't giving me any luck in finding the keyer that I built.
I see that MFJ had their hands on the chip but I don't see the sequential
numbering feature on there's. If all else fails I guess I'll have to find
the building instructions...eek!

Does anyone else recall this keyer?

BTW, Wayne please count my vote as a "Yes" for inclusion of this feature in
the next firmware revision.

I think that some of the more elaborate external keyers have something like
this.
You might check around. You might be able to get there that way.
