You might be interested in the Logikey keyers by Idiom Press
(http://www.idiompress.com). They can emulate the timing of quite a few
other keyers, have lots of great features (including memories that can
handle contest serial numbers, among other things), and you can get them
as kits. 

I haven't had the opportunity to use one - just heard lots of good
things about them. I'm happy with the K2's built-in keyer, but I may end
up getting a Logikey just for something to build if/when I run out of
Elecraft kits. Fortunately I only have the K2 with KSB2 and KPA100, so
that may be a while.
