Hi Jack, With my limited knowledge from scratch building an rs232 interface, I thought it might be better for the interface in the K2 to be outside the rig for isolation purposes. I thought the farther away it was from the xcvr the better things might be. However, you have shown me that I was talking about a different type of problem with regard to the optoisolators. My plans are: 1)to update my K2 #402, 2)add a KIO2, 3)do some digital QSOs with CAT control, 4)eventually add the KPA100 inside the K2 enclosure, and eventually 5)remote the KPA100 and a KA100 in an EC2 enclosure. Which brings up another question. Is the remote KPA100 option approved by Elecraft? I see that people have done this, but I haven't found any actual Elecraft documentation on it.
