So, what I gather is that the posters think Elecraft is incapable of making BOTH the light portable rig and a big box? I challenge Eric and Wayne to keep it under 50 lbs. A big box isn't backwards, its just different. It wouldn't kill the light weight portable development or market but open new markets to the hams wanting a desktop big box. My point to begin with was this could be done with mostly off the shelf parts. Only needing a new case, face and display. This radio would be to big to take on an air plain.... But thats not what I want it for. I want one to set on my desk. If you dont and you like your K3 just the way it is. Congratulations! You have a great radio. Enjoy it. Go use it!
