Hi Chris... I recently built my first K3 and I borrowed a signal source (XG1) from a friend and made this test/adjustment. But, honestly, I don't remember any significant change in settings from factory default. I'd suggest just use the radio. It would be nice to acquire an XG1 or 2 so you can make this test at a later time. You might find the build fun, or may locate one at a ham fest or SK sale.
