If you lack a signal source, you can attach a length of hookup wire to the antenna jack, tune to 49.380 MHz and tune in the ref osc signal. Adjust the coupling of the wire to the signal source (OK, just move the wire around) until you have an S9 signal using factory settings and with PRE ON and RF Gain max.
Don't move the wire! Run RF Gain Cal as if you had a 50 uV source. The advantage of this, even though it is not as precise as using a sig gen, is that the radio-to-radio variations in the IF amplifier gain-versus-voltage are mapped out and you'll often find you get smoother RF gain control operation after having run the cal. If you mess up, K3 Utility can always reset you to factory defaults. 73, Lyle KK7P > I have my K3 completed for all but this part. I ran the K3 utility. At this > point I don't have a signal generator to run this test. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
