Bill, I cannot say anything about the comparison of weak signals on the waterfall between the two, but one great advantage of the P3 is the ability to adjust the span - you can go from observing a 200 kHz chunk of the band (-100 kHz to +100 kHz) to a width that will allow you to examine a single signal in detail.
