Almost any decent mic can easily be made sound great with a K3. You don't need outboard anything -- no equalizer, no signal processor, no battery. All you have to do is wire it to match the K3. As you probably know, the major mfrs of ham gear refused to talk to each other to standardize on mic wiring, so they're all different.
The K3 has all the adjustments you need to match any individual voice and any mic -- TXEQ sets the frequency response, MIC GAIN settings set the level. If it's an electret mic, you use the menu setting to turn on BIAS for the mic. If it's a dynamic mic, you don't need bias. All of the settings are clearly covered in the manual. If you want to BUY a new mic for the K3, the Yamaha CM500 headset with attached boom mic is a great choice for under $50. But what you already own should work just fine if you wire it correctly. 73, Jim K9YC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
