Elecraft owners have listened to the wishes of some owners who were able to
define a feature that would improve the fantastic K3 transceivers. I am
willing to bet Elecraft guys have developed this enhancement to the K3 rigs and
will be GIVING IT AWAY to current owners as well as to new buyers. Not only
that, they have arranged to have some other small group of guys to help debug
it and enhance it so when it is GIVEN to us it will work exactly as promised.
Not only that they will add this new feature to the very long list of features
that they fully support, 100%.
I am amazed, and grateful for the responsiveness of these guys. You see, I
owned an FT-1000MP bought in 1997. It had horrible key clicks. I understand
many guys asked Yaesu for a fix - no answer, they continued to build rigs.
Then a couple US guys developed fixes of their own, and still Yaesu continued
to build those rigs that clicked 5 kHz up and down the band. It has only been
in the last few years that they got their act together. Thousands of high end
rigs are on the bands QRMing like crazy. Just listen next month when the CW DX
contest is on to all the key clicks on 160 and 80 meters, those are the
unmodified FT1000MPs. I tore into mine, took out a couple layers of boards,
added the components, and then tested it on a spectrum analyzer to verify the
improvement. Very few hams can or are willing to do that, what the
manufacturer should do. Remember, Yaesu never even acknowledged the problem!
Oh yeah, we have friends right at the very top in Elecraft, who listen
, and who act, and who are extremely generous. Un-friggin-believable.
But then, nearly everyone on this reflector already knows this!
