What "fiber"? Mine was a kit and the material was definitely felt washers (2 in the kit).
I could never get the feel I wanted and didn't like the sound either. I replaced the washers with a single, larger homemade felt washer that just fits the recess in the knob and is glued in, so there is only one sliding surface. Just a tiny swish now and acceptable feel, hopefully without too much loading on the bearing(s) in the shaft encoder. The result is a slight bit of noise as the knob rotates along the disk. I've read suggestions to use various other materials including felt. When the AF is up I don't even notice it. 73, de Nate >> ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
