The Ft-5000 seems to have a few issues with alc and tx audio quality, where the K3 really has got the ability to tx great quality audio with many different microphone setups. FT-5000's I have heard sound raspy when using heavier mic/compression levels whereas the K3 retains a clean sound under a similar setup situation. I thing the 5000 is a great rig, but it has a few issues like most transceivers.
