The comments were FB publicity. It all made the center point: Ham radio and Morse code is still around and the most modern communications are not necessarily faster. It really did a great job of 'poking a hole' in the notion that "higher tech" is "better tech" <G>. And all of that in a few seconds as part of a simple little game Leno wanted to play. No, it's not likely to cause a rush to the hobby. That wasn't the opportunity or the point.
