Another great walking tour starting in mid-town is to go South mainly along Broadway through Soho and down to the City Hall area. Lots of good shopping, snacking, browsing and people-watching opportunities along the way. Then walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and back. Return via Little Italy for a great lunch. Speaking of food, don't miss the Carnegie Deli. And I'd recommend a Broadway show one evening. You can get discount tickets at the TKTS booth near Times Square.
