Hello... I have two K3s, sn0050 and sn2067; both have been back to you all for all updates etc. They are identical except for 0050 having the internal two meter converter board.
Yesterday, I was attempting to get 0050 connected to a new laptop running WSJT software (JT65a). The laptop had the Prolific drivers installed to work with your USB to serial cable. The systems recognize one another and all seemed happy enuff. There is a feature of the WSJT software that gives a command to the K3 to go from RX to TX. There are also some audio connections required, but I had not yet made those. So when I depressed the 'Transmit' button on the computer JT65a screen, the K3 did in fact go into transmit.....but, it was also transmitting a full-power carrier (into dummy load)...which it is not supposed to do. I double checked all of the menu settings on the K3, but could not find any clues as to what was causing the carrier on transmit. No cables plugged into the key or paddle jacks. Then I switched to K3 #2067 for a comparison; it performed as it is supposed to: when 'transmit' button depressed in software on computer, radio switched from RX to TX and no carrier transmitted. Wonder what could be different in the two radios? I can still substitute 2067 for 0050 on my dxpedition coming up in June, but really would like to figure out what's up with 0050 so I can have a spare. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Best regards, Dick, K5AND ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
