I use a similar system (10 ft rod, 20# test line) with a tennis ball filled with 23 US pennies. The tennis ball works great, and does not annoy neighbors when used at home. I use a snap swivel on the end of the line. I cut a slice in the tennis ball to insert the pennies. A sail needle was used to sew up the slice and to create a loop. The snap swivel clips to the loop to toss the ball. When the ball reaches ground, I change the ball for a light line, and pull it through the tree. I then use the light line to pull the antenna, or pull a heavier rope if needed. My trees top out at about 70 feet.
