Personally, I use the knobs on the front panel for control of the rig. I use 
MacLoggerDX for logging (connected to the rig so it gets frequency/power 
automagically) and CocoaModem for what little PSK/RTTY I do. For me the 
computer is just another tool that happens to connect to the radio...
