Gosh, it would seem that simple overtone xtal oscillator in a very
straightforward MOPA arrangement would yield a clean signal with plenty of
power a lot more easily than trying to clean up and amplify the XG3. 

Yes, you'd still need a keying system, but a simple PIC would handle that. 

Great scratch-build homebrew project for any budding solder jockey, and an
hour's tinkering for the more experienced. Build it "floating" or
"manhattan" style on a bit of scrap pc board.
