Last night, I completed Part III and the checkout of my KX1. Everything seems to check out as expected (on the money in just about everything). The only thing that I haven't done is try internal batteries (seems we didn't have enough in the house). Now, I just need to install the antenna tuner tonight (already assembled). I have kept at it the past couple of days because I want to take it on an upcoming trip starting Thursday. In all, it was an amazing experience to hear signals so clearly from something that I actually assembled!
New question: Since I am not not fully proficient yet in CW, can I use the the KX1 to practice code without transmitting? It appears I could use the key test mode, but I wasn't sure if that is right.
