Just to add my .02c...
I was on the air on my KX1 last night, with a 25' longwire
and 16' radial. Didn't hear a thing from Washington
State(re: the Fox).

Get an old CB whip, stick it in your pocket, hook it to
your KX1, add a drag
wire and
get thee on the aire...peripatetically speaking, of
course.
i use a 10 foot whip on 20 meters and it works great !
i worked the Fox last night and a few other guys too...
