The K3 manual says to set your mic gain so the ALC meter hits about 5 with occasional peaks to 7 while using a normal speaking voice.i.e. keep it within the ALC brackets below the meter. I'm using a Heil PE-781 microphone with a wind screen. The ALC kicks up to the recommended range beginning with a mic setting about 30. What confuses me is that the ALC kick, audio quality, and transmit wave form don't seem to change between mic settings 30 and 60. Is that normal experience. What mic setting should I use?
