If your K3 is connected to your computer for logging or rig control purposes, make certain that the ground of the K3 is adequately bonded to the chassis of the computer. I had a similar distortion issue on my K3 audio, and I had to go all the way down to a 10 inch length of RG-8 coax braid for a bonding strap to make it completely go away.
