Don, Assuming that you have VSPE installed; - start VSPE - click on the icon that looks like a serial connector with a red asterisk. This will create a new device. - under device type choose "Splitter" then click on "Next" - under "virtual serial port" choose an unused serial port (example - Com 1) - under "data source serial port" choose the physical serial port your devise is using (example - Com 4) - under "settings" enter the serial device settings - check mark for Redirect modem registers - click on "Finish" - for each of the programs that will use the serial port choose the virtual serial port (example - Com 1)
