Hallo Allen, I have had the same problem when building the KPA100. The orientation of the pot has not been defined and so you realy can't say which the right direction is.
If the clock would be transparent without digits you would run into the same problem. A clock does not turn counterclockwise just because one looks at it from the back. My left arm is always my left arm no matter the orientation of a viewer. A manual writer should say: " the end of R6 on your left as looking at the circuit side of the PCB" etc. This is a little long winded. I built a KPA100 and had no difficulty understanding the instructions so Elecraft makes pretty good manuals for the most part. The manual for the DSP could stand some improvement.
