Well, I must admit I'm a little bit disappointed... It was said some time in August, the KAT500 would have a built-in balun on the *input* side. And one of two outputs switchable between balanced and unbalanced. Now we'll had to add a balun at the output, which arguably is suboptimal. On the other hand, I wonder why Elecraft should go into the trouble and expense of developing a high-power balun. AFIK, there are some good products already available...
I second Martin's (LA8OKA) suggestion for a relay-switched configuration.
