Hi Elecraft and fans, I am waiting with increasing excitement for the shipment of the KX3. I was just travelling to Denmark and operated there with my FT-817ND as OV5T. I am positive that if I'd had the KX3, I'd have been able to work many more contacts (although I still had a lot of fun with the FT-817).
While on holiday I was doing some shifts as the SKCC K3Y/EU station. The Straight Key Century Club is one of my favourite activities on the air. According to the SKCC rules, contacts must be made using a straight key, sideswiper/cootie key or bug. I'd brought my Czech Army key along with my Begali Sculpture, and used the Czech key for the SKCC contacts. One of the great appeals of the KX3 is the "built-in" paddles, together with the internal ATU and battery charger (that I've also ordered), it makes for a completely self contained unit just the addition of a wire and a counterpoise to be the perfect portable rig. But I'd still like to be able to do SKCC contacts on it, without bringing anything extra along. For that purpose could you please add a "sideswiper" mode that can be used with the built-in paddles on the KX3? I.e. contact either left or right functions as a manual key. It could be configured in the "CW IAMB" option as a 3rd mode other than A or B, assuming the menu is the same as on the K3. For that matter, it would also be great if the K3 could get that same feature, so I could use the Begali Sculpture as a side swiper if I encounter a SKCC operator and don't have one of the straight keys connected and handy! 73, Thomas M0TRN (aka OV5T) ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
