Ive bought a fair amount of stuff from Elecraft in the past and most of it has had VAT charged on arrival in the UK, which is normal, but:
On a recent import of components and an XG3, I was charged Excise Duty in addition to the VAT applied to the total for goods, shipping and Excise Duty (tax on tax). Im wondering if this is something that might have been introduced when the threshold for application of VAT was reduced from £18 to £15 for purchased goods? Has anyone else has been similarly charged? Could replies be made to g3tjp [at] arrl [dot] net in order to reduce QRM on the reflector. Ill summarise afterwards. Thanks in advance and 73.
