Yes. The KPA100 is designed to replace the current top cover on your K2. Four plug-in cables connect the KPA100 to the K2, so you can quickly and easily switch from the K2/10 with its ATU and internal battery (if equipped) to a K2/100 and back again by just changing top covers. Many fellows do that to run 100 watts at home with a big power supply and QRP with the built-in ATU and battery for portable operation.
Some fellows devised a way to mount the KPA100 externally so they didn't even have to remove the top cover. The KPA100 wasn't designed for that to meet FCC rules, but it works if the cables aren't too long. You'll find a lot of information about how to KPA100 in an external box here on the reflector and in the archives. The downside is that you have another box on the operating desk, which can be an issue if space is limited. 73, Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- Hello, I have been selling off some of my other rigs to down size the shack. Now I want to upgrade my K2 QRP rig to a K2 100 watt rig. >From what I am looking at I will need to get the 100 w kit and the 100 w ATU. I will need to take out the current ATU for QRP. I am on the correct path? 72 and Thanks, Ron Polityka WB3AAL K1 - SN 01011 K2 - SN 01392 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
