------------------------- Sure, Jay. You can use the signal generator function of your Service Monitor for the signal called for in the procedure, if you wish. What those procedures do is input an offset to compensate for any small errors in the frequencies of the crystals used in the KX1. That offset is stored in memory using the BFO and DDS MENU functions so the frequency display will be as accurate as possible. You should expect it to be within 200 Hz even without calibration. A signal such as WWV is suggested simply because you cannot get anything more accurate in frequency than WWV. Certainly your service monitor, if properly calibrated, will be close enough to use.
