An RS-232 A/B switch can make that changeover easy - the common of the A/B switch connects to the K3 (or P3) and one side connects to the nicroHam while the other side connects directly to a serial port (or USB to serial adapter). A simple "flip of the switch" changes it from normal configuration to Firmware download mode.
