"Along this line, I think I see that the Line Out level (Mic control) in Data A
mode on my K3 needs a bit of "tweaking" when changing bands to get the ALC
level to maintain the 4 bars with the 5th flickering."

Terry, and others;
When using Data modes including DSSTV, the sound card sliders often need to be
set or tweaked to optimize. In case you are not aware of it, there is a nice
little free program called 'QuickMix' that will either save, or load, your
sound card slider settings as you choose. It allows you to save them by file
names you choose for each mode and/or band, configurations, whatever. Let's
say you switch between one mode to another. Just open the program, choose
'load', find the file name you saved the settings under, click it and viola'.
The soundcard sliders are set the way you saved them with that file name. If
you find that you do make a change for some reason, save it and it will be
right for the next time. Do a search for QuickMix.
