I have used a 2 speed sewing machine foot switch for the past 40 years. I used 
the first switch so I don't have to push very much.
The only thing I have had to do was change the cable twice because they rotted 
but the switch keeps going and going and...

Hi Jim,

I'm using a footswitch I bought off eBay from a "tattoo supplies" account
or something like that, it cost me $5 plus shipping and does a great job,
all I had to do was change the supplied 1/4" jack to a phono plug.

It's solid construction and works a treat, it doesn't have to cost a
fortune to be workable :)
