OK - problem solved. Hey guys - thanks for the Fusion follow-up replies! I was going to give CrossOver a shot but decided to look at Fusion one more time, as AH6TD and VK3ADE said it worked for them. Well, I certainly have a giant egg on my face. I was trying to use my K3/P3/KPA500 USB-->serial cable to do the K144XV firmware update! Nothing I did worked. But for some reason I remembered that the K144XV came with a separate cable that plugs into that little module, on the side. I pulled the K3/P3/KPA500 USB-->serial cable out and plugged in the one that hooks directly into the K144XV and - bingo - it works perfectly.
