Paul, If you want to use the K3 front panel jack with Heil mics, order their Kenwood adapter for that microphone.
Most any computer microphone can be plugged into the rear panel jacks - the Yamaha CM-500 is a good choice IMHO - the earpieces are comfortable and the microphone works great.
