When I need to find information quickly, I find the electronic version superior to a printed manual.
In this case, typing RIT into the Adobe reader search window finds every instance of "rit" in the manual. Just a few clicks takes you to RIT on page 11 that reads "RIT/XIT (pg. 16): Three switches control RIT and XIT on/off and clear (offset zero). The knob below the RIT /XIT switches selects the offset."
