In the late 80's it was time to upgrade. I held a conditional for 30 years. After lots of studing and code practice I made the trip to Chicago and took both the advanced and extra. Had to take them in order: advanced, extra 20 wpm, and then Extra written. It was a long day but passed all three. I remember two questions on CW test. Had to choose between physician and physicist. I guessed right. Antenna was also a 4 element wire beam. Those were the days. Yes, they still used the tape machines and those WW2 headphones.
