Thanks for all the responses. It works fine, my confusion stemmed from the description in the KX3 manual which described the tip, ring, sleeve connections and then looking at a standard DB9 TXD/RXD pinout it made me think pins 2 and 3 were reversed, in actuality it's just looking at the data flow from different devices. Shouldn't stay up so late I guess.. :)
