What I'm specifically (and many others) are looking for is a lighweight remote autotuner which can
be used on a single loop antenna.

Probably not worth doing. The KAT100 requires attachment to the K2's AuxBus for band and control info. The AuxBus definitely cannot be extended very far without adversely affecting K2 operations.
