The driver installation is suspect. Part of install is publishing the port.  I 
got my drivers from Windows Update. Can you roll back driver install, ten plug 
the KXUSB in and your system find the driver from Windows Update?  Do you have 
any other FTDI devices that may have installed a different driver version?
