Hi Dick, On our web site you'll find the manual for installing the DVR module. It includes instructions on removing the front panel.
Once the panel is off, look at the VFO A encoder module. Make sure it isn't unplugged (due to its hardware becoming loose). If that's the only problem, plug it back in and tighten the hardware, then reinstall the FP module as instructed in the DVR manual. If the VFO A encoder really is defective, not just unplugged, call sales and ask for a replacement to be sent.
