Do you mean other than Elecraft? Hi! The K2 is certainly a great kit for a solder jockey. I built mine in 2000 and it's still a favorite rig.
Your friend might also remember what a project finishing someone else's unfinished kit can be. Usually there's a reason why it was unfinished that needs to be found and fixed. Even if that's not true, there's the question of lost parts, etc. The K2 has a lot of parts. Having built kits since the 1950's myself, I'd suggest that those problems are much harder to find and correct in a carelessly assembled modern pc-board based radio than in the old point-to-point wired kits. Just my opinion of course... 73, Ron AC7AC -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bill Robbins Sent: Sunday, November 04, 2012 1:33 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Elecraft] WTB: Unassembled K-2 or Partial I have a friend that wants to get back into ham radio. He used to build Heathkits and would like to build again. He is elderly and I thought he might enjoy trying the K-2. Anyone out there want to part with a partially assembled or unassembled K-2?
