Hi all, I've just had my new KX3 on air for the first time, but have been plagued by an extremely annoying noise when tuning. The noise is most obvious on 10 and 12m, but is audible down to at least 20; it sounds like a series of mushy clicks as I tune, and makes tuning quite unpleasant.
Setting VFO NR on or RX SHFT to 8 both attenuate, but do not completely remove, the noise. Using them both does get rid of it, but is a non-starter for me; I should not have to accept losing dual-watch and filtering just in order to be able to tune quietly. Googling has turned up a lone post from Wayne in June this year but not much else. I'm interested to know what causes this, since none of the other radios I have or have used exhibit the problem. I'd also be very interested in any further suggestions for fixes! With regard to the VFO NR option, the manual states that it's a per-band setting that should be enabled only when required, but not much else. What's the trade-off? Presumably there is a good reason it isn't just enabled by default.
